I get asked often when the best time to drink Shakeology is so  I decided to write a post about it.

Shakeology is an amazing meal replacement shake!  It contains more than 70 natural ingredients derived from rich, nutrient-dense whole-food sources from around the world.

there can supply you with all the nutrients, vitamins, proteins, and minerals in the amounts you need the way one delicious shake can.  

It can help you lose weight, improves your digestion and regularity, can lower your cholesterol and increases your energy and immunity.   

Just because it is a meal replacement shake, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have it as a snack.  Most days I have my shake as an after dinner snack!  I don’t know about you but I can eat really well all day but at night I’m craving every bad food out there.  This shake curbs those cravings and satisfies the nighttime cravings.  Unlike a lot of other shakes, this shake is meant to drink once daily and does not need to be consumed at a certain time.  You choose what works best for YOU!  

Pre-Workout- Shakeology is not my best recommendation for a pre-workout supplement.  There are other options that would be better.  Most pre-workout supplements contain some sort of nitric oxide booster to promote blood flow.  This is important when you are doing an intense workout.  Since Shakeology doesn’t contain a heavy does of caffeine, it won’t give you the energy boost you need for an intense workout.  My suggestion for pre-workout is called energize!  This stuff is amazing and it’s an official supplement of the Iron Man.

If you do want to drink Shakeology before your workout the best time would be 30-60 minutes prior. 

Post-Workout-I highly recommend drinking Shakeology after your workout.  Since it is packed with nutrients, it is just what your body needs after an intense workout.  It is always important to consume a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein post workout so I would recommend mixing half a scoop of Shakeology with a piece of fruit such as a banana.  Chocolate Shakeology has 17g of Carbohydrates and 17 g of Protein so you would need a total of 68g of carbs to meet this 4 to 1 ratio.  

If you are dealing with post workout soreness then I would recommend not using Shakeology as your post workout shake and drinking Recover!  This shake is part of the Beachbody Performance Line, and like Energize, it is an official supplement of the Iron Man.  The best part is, it tastes just like a frozen hot chocolate.  It’s so good!   Read my blog post about energize here

Cravings-If you find yourself having an uncontrollable craving then the time to drink Shakeology would be NOW.  I know that when I am craving chocolate I turn to my chocolate Shakeology and it is just what I need.  

So when is the right time to drink Shakeology?  That depends on YOU.  It doesn’t really matter what time of day you drink it it because you can make it work any time of day!  

As a busy mom of 2 I am thankful for my Shakeology!  It is easy to whip up and I can take it on the run!  I love that it gives me the energy I need to keep up with my workouts, work, kids and life!
